Sasha Reid

ResponseWise Program Manager

Sasha has worked as an actor, freelance video producer, audio production coordinator, teacher and workplace trainer over the past decade. It was during the gas crisis in 1998 that crippled Melbourne, Victoria, that her interest in the social, psychological and economic impact of disaster and emergencies was renewed. This has led to involvement as a volunteer with the State Emergency Service, and subsequently with the Country Fire Authority, as a volunteer Firefighter and Community Education Presenter.

Returning to tertiary studies in 2000, Sasha has pursued this interest in emergency management with studies in Fire Technology and the Diploma in Disaster Management. She brings to the role of Program Co-ordinator a conviction in the paramount importance of both workplace and individual preparedness when confronting the possibility of an emergency such as fire or flood, and the subsequent negative impact that such an event is likely to have.

As such, Sasha regards the implementation of effective personal and workplace strategies of emergency management and preparedness as critical elements in risk mitigation and harm minimisation, consistent therefore with the National initiatives toward, and broader framework of, workplace Occupational Health and Safety.
